Solana Foundation announced that MoneyGram Ramps is now live on Solana, adding direct access to MoneyGram’s cash on- and off-ramp infrastructure through a single developer API. The integration is built into the Solana Developer Platform payments module and is designed to help apps, wallets, and exchanges connect onchain payment flows with real-world fiat access. This is a meaningful ecosystem update because it shifts Solana’s payments story further toward everyday utility. Instead of only focusing on token transfers between crypto-native users, the network now has a clearer path for builders who need cash connectivity, compliance coverage, and local-currency access across global markets.
MoneyGram Ramps gives Solana developers instant API credentials, sandbox access, SDKs, and access to MoneyGram’s global cash network without requiring them to build their own banking stack. The launch supports cash deposits in more than 25 countries and cash withdrawals in more than 170 countries and territories, with Rift named as the first Solana wallet to integrate the service.
This expands Solana’s usefulness for remittances, payroll, aid distribution, and other payment flows where crypto alone is not enough and local fiat access matters. It also reinforces the network’s institutional and consumer payments positioning by connecting Solana apps to a global physical and digital payout network with established compliance and reach.
Developers should review the Solana Developer Platform payments module and MoneyGram Ramps documentation to evaluate where cash-in and cash-out can simplify user onboarding. Holders and ecosystem users should watch for wallet and app integrations that make stablecoin transfers easier to bridge into local currency in everyday, cross-border use cases.
